Dear Sir, URGENT APPEAL ON THE NON-ACCEPTANCE OF IJMB STATEMENTS OF RESULT FOR DIRECT ENTRY CONVERSION/REGISTRATION IN LAGOS AND OGUN STATE JAMB OFFICES The Education Information Society of Nigeria (EISN) respectfully brings to your urgent attention a matter affecting some Direct Entry candidates seeking to process their applications with Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Statements of Result. It has come to our attention through reports and complaints received from affected candidates that the JAMB offices in Lagos and Ogun States are allegedly not accepting IJMB Statements of Result from some candidates for the required Direct Entry conversion/registration process. We respectfully request the Board to clarify the applicable policy concerning the validity and acceptance period of IJMB results. Our understanding is that an IJMB qualification does not ordinarily become invalid merely because it was obtained several years ago. Therefore, where a candidate possesses a genuine and verifiable IJMB result and satisfies other applicable JAMB requirements, we respectfully seek clarification on the basis upon which such a result may be declined. Considering the limited time available to affected Direct Entry candidates, we appeal for your urgent intervention. If the reports are correct and the results remain valid under JAMB's regulations, we respectfully request that the Lagos and Ogun State offices be appropriately directed to attend to eligible candidates without unnecessary delay. Sir, making official channels accessible and efficient is also important for protecting candidates from touts, middlemen and unauthorized agents. Whenever legitimate candidates are unable to access services directly through the appropriate public offices, unscrupulous individuals may exploit the situation by promising unofficial assistance. This could expose innocent candidates to fraud and undermine public confidence in the admission process. The Education Information Society of Nigeria strongly believes that every qualified Nigerian should be able to access legitimate educational opportunities through transparent and lawful procedures without having to know or pay an intermediary. We believe that the achievements recorded by your predecessors can be consolidated and surpassed through fairness, accessibility, transparency and continuous improvement of JAMB's services. We therefore respectfully request: 1. Clarification of JAMB's official policy on the validity period and acceptance of IJMB Statements of Result for Direct Entry purposes; 2. Investigation of the reported non-acceptance of such results at the Lagos and Ogun State JAMB offices; 3. Appropriate directives to the affected offices where candidates' IJMB results remain valid and meet JAMB requirements; and 4. Urgent consideration of affected candidates because of the limited time available for the Direct Entry process. We trust that this matter will receive your prompt attention in the interest of Nigerian students and the integrity of our admission system.
